Introducing IPFS Gateway Activity Streams — monitor real-time traffic through your Filebase IPFS Gateway with instant insights and full transparency.

Today we’re excited to introduce a brand new feature for Filebase users: IPFS Gateway Activity Streams — a powerful way to monitor your IPFS gateway traffic in real time.

With Activity Streams, you can now watch the live traffic flowing through your Filebase IPFS Gateway as it happens, right from your browser.

🚀 Real-Time Insights, Powered by Our Infrastructure

At Filebase, we operate our own CDN edge infrastructure on bare metal servers — not rented cloud instances or third-party CDNs. This gives us the flexibility and control to deliver powerful, low-latency features like Activity Streams, something that wouldn’t be possible with traditional cloud-based setups.

By leveraging WebSockets, we’re able to deliver live, streaming traffic data directly to your browser — with zero delays. Every request your gateway handles is instantly pushed to the Activity Stream view as it happens, so you’re never left guessing.

🔎 What You’ll See in the Stream

The Activity Stream provides detailed information about every request made to your gateway:

  • Date / Timestamp
  • IP Address
  • Request Method (e.g. GET, HEAD)
  • Response Code (e.g. 200, 404)
  • Gateway Hostname (including both your-gateway.myfilebase.com and custom domains like ipfs.yourdomain.com)
  • URI Path
  • Bytes Sent

Whether you're debugging an issue, monitoring usage, or just curious about how your content or gateway is being accessed — Activity Streams gives you the tools to see exactly what’s going on.

🧱 Built for Web3 Developers

If you're building decentralized apps (dApps), NFT platforms, or any kind of web3 application that serves content over IPFS, Activity Streams can be an invaluable tool. Here's how:

  • Monitor user engagement in real time — See when users are fetching IPFS-hosted content like smart contract metadata, NFT assets, or frontend files.
  • Debug gateway issues instantly — Spot failed requests, 404s, or unexpected IP patterns the moment they happen.
  • Track usage for decentralized identity (DID) apps — Verify how often and from where users are accessing identity documents or verifiable credentials.
  • Validate gateway performance under load — If you're launching a new web3 project or minting campaign, you can observe live traffic spikes and optimize your delivery setup accordingly.

👀 How to View the Activity Stream

Getting started is easy. To view the live stream for your gateway:

  1. Select Gateways from the left sidebar of the Filebase dashboard
  2. Click on the name of your gateway
  3. Scroll down to the Gateway Activity Stream section

From there, you’ll instantly start seeing live traffic data as it comes in.

⚠️ One Important Note

Since this data is streamed over WebSockets, it’s not persisted. The moment you refresh or close the page, the data is gone. If you need to analyze historical traffic data, stay tuned — we’re working on a full-featured Analytics dashboard that’s coming soon.

🎯 Built for Builders

IPFS Gateway Activity Streams is available today for users on all plans. If you're using Filebase to serve content via IPFS, especially through custom domains or dedicated gateways, this feature is designed to give you unmatched visibility and control.

This is just one of the many ways we're rethinking what's possible when you build on top of IPFS with Filebase.
