Filebase + Akash Hackathon - Initial Project Showcase

Filebase + Akash Hackathon - Initial Project Showcase

Filebase and Akash have teamed up for a hackathon that challenges developers to build a cutting-edge app that integrates Filebase and Akash.

Judges are looking for the most creative and groundbreaking ideas that utilize both platforms in unique and customer-focused ways. Since the Hackathon began on September 1st, we’ve been amazed at the projects that have been submitted.

We look forward to showcasing the winners in late October! But in the meantime, below, you’ll find some of the initial projects that caught our eye!

The Akashian Public Library - by Rodrigo Rochin

The Akashian Public Library is powered by Akash - "The Unstoppable Cloud,” by Filebase and by Nextcloud.

GamestoPlay - a crypto game shop

Many projects today payout funds that are essentially unusable for most hobbyists. Golem recently released Thorg, a miner that pays out GLM via Polygon - but for you to actually get it out to real money, you’re going to need quite a bit. The same goes for other projects, like Mysterium - the decentralized VPN.

At the same time, this has the potential to bring in a lot of gamers to the crypto space. You’d be surprised how many people spend hours every day doing tiny tasks, enter giveaways, and fill out endless surveys - just for a few more games in their Steam library.

To combat this, why not create a webshop? Polygon has low fees, these networks pay out decent enough cash, and anyone with a graphics card could earn enough for a game within a few hours.

This project will include:

  • Akash for the backend / API endpoints
  • Polygon as a payment system
  • Filebase for the frontend images, videos, trailers, and other logo art
  • Filebase as a backend database

FlowState on Akash

FlowState is an idea for an app to revolutionize an approach to audio production and create a marketplace for high quality audio samples which would create a potential for a new source of revenue streams for musicians and artists. FlowState would create a platform for users to collaborate in audio production sessions, utilizing a real-time layer hosted on Akash and the marketplace platform hosted and stored on Filebase.

Developers of FlowState have been working on creating this app for longer than the run of this Hackathon - they have been working on it since March 2020.

Feeling Inspired?

Of these ideas, do any stand out to you as tools you would personally use? Or do any inspire you and give you ideas for your own Hackathon app?

There’s still time to enter the Filebase + Akash Hackathon. The Hackathon is open until October 20, 2021 at 23:59 PM PST.
